Watching a Dodge Viper ACR Tackle Targa Tasmania Is Immensely Satisfying

The Dodge Viper ACR may have license plates, but make no mistake, it’s a pure-bred track machine. It’s taken numerous track records with ease and remains one of the most capable cars to ever come out of America, despite going out of production in 2017. But as great as it is on track, it looks even better conquering Australia’s most famous tarmac rally, Targa Tasmania.

Targa Tasmania, a stage rally that takes place entirely on paved roads, happens every year on Tasmania, a large island off the southern coast of Australia. Because the cars don’t have to deal with the harsh gravel surfaces that normally come with stage rally, competitors enter all sorts of road-going performance cars, from Porsche 944s to new Lamborghini Huracáns.
