Watch Travis Pastrana’s Gymkhana STI Stomp a Ford GT in a Drag Race

The Ford GT is one of the most capable supercars on sale today. Thanks to a 647-horsepower twin-turbo V-6 and plenty of trick aero, it can dominate any circuit you throw it at. But it terms of straight-line speed, it can’t hold a candle to Travis Pastrana’s 862-horsepower Subaru WRX STI Gymkhana car.

The folks at Hoonigan wanted to see which car would be quicker in a straight line, so it organized a runway drag race between the two as a part of its “Flying Finish” YouTube series, where Pastrana races assorted cars, with a jump at the finish line. Even with 50 percent more cylinders and double the turbos, we knew going into this race there’s no way the GT would be able to keep up in a straight-up drag, considering the STI’s all-wheel-drive grip and ultra-short gearing. But it’s still fun as hell to watch. For the full story and video, check out this article from Road & Track.
