The Green Hell is so named for a reason. The Nürburging’s high speeds, limited runoffs, public traffic, and tight bends make it both dangerous and highly complex to navigate. It is the go-to torture test location for performance cars because if you can handle the ‘Ring, you can handle abuse anywhere. Nowhere is that more clear than in this Facebook video from Tim Stangier.
The video was taken during a track day with Tim Stangier and his brother. It shows how unpredictable the Nürburging can be, as he comes across a huge fluid spill on the track. With no safety officials or warnings nearby yet, there’s almost no way for him to spot the spill until the car in front of him starts to slide. It’s too late, though. His car hits the slick spill and breaks loose, forcing him into the slim grass runoff on the side of the track. Considering how many spots on the ‘Ring have almost nothing separating the track from the wall, he’s lucky it happened there. Shortly after, you see a disabled car that either caused the spill or also fell victim to it. Hell hath no mercy and the ‘Ring is the same.
