Watch This 1350-HP C8 Corvette Set a 9-Second Quarter-Mile Record

Just yesterday we wrote about Fueltech USA’s C8 Corvette, which broke the record for most powerful C8 on the planet when it laid down 1350 hp on a hub dyno during testing. Well it didn’t take long for the Georgia-based tuning firm to take its car to the drag strip and claim another world record.

The car managed to set a quarter-mile time of 9.01 seconds at 153 mph during testing at Virginia Motorsports Park, making it the quickest C8 in the world in the quarter-mile. It bests the previous record of 9.05 seconds set by the Corvette developed by Extreme Turbo Systems, but couldn’t beat that car’s trap speed of 159 mph.

Fueltech’s car uses an LT2 with strengthened internals and two Garrett G35-900 turbochargers to make all that power. There are no intercoolers; the tuner uses methanol instead of pump gas to help keep temps down. There’s also a Nitrous system onboard, but it’s not clear if it was used on this record run.
