This in-period 2006 video of Best Motoring testing out the then-new E60-generation BMW M5 is exactly the kind of fun we’re talking about. The team brought the car out to the Twin Ring Motegi circuit, located roughly two hours north of Tokyo, to see just how capable it could be on a race track. And it looks like they had a ton of fun.
After doing a few sighting laps exploring the E60’s 8250-rpm rev range, Best Motoring times the car in every different drive mode, comparing each lap to the last. It ends with the pro driver, Naomi Hattori, doing a collection of extremely satisfying slides. If you enjoy high-revving motorsport-inspired engine sounds combined with expert Japanese commentary, you won’t want to miss it.
