Subaru’s rally legacy started, fittingly, with a car called the Legacy, but it reached the peak of World Rally Championship success with the Impreza. Blue Imprezas with yellow accents defined the company’s brief moment in the rallying sun, inspired the WRX line, and briefly cemented the company’s all-wheel-drive road cars as pedigreed world-beaters. This car, a 2005 Impreza WRC2005, is a running-and-driving testament to those glory days.

This WRC2005, bodied as a “Blobeye” car, competed in three WRC events and won more than a half-dozen stages en route to two retirements and a fourth-place finish at Rally Finland. Solberg finished tied for second in the season championship but lost the title to Sebastian Loeb by a stunning 56 point margin.

In the years since its competition glory days, WRC2005 No.7 (officially PRO.05.007) has been rallied around Europe by a variety of private owners. It was restored to its original factory specifications last year. That restoration also came with a return to the stunning Subaru World Rally Team factory livery, complete with bright yellow accents.

The car is currently set up for pavement stages, although the listing notes this can be changed. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivers around 300 horsepower to all four wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission. The WRC2005 is listed on Collecting Cars, where an auction ending today has already eclipsed $300,000. For the full story, check out this article from Road & Track.
