It’s been eight months since Nissan unveiled the Z Proto, its concept car teasing the next generation of the Nissan Z. Despite the seasons changing and multiple opportunities to get up close with the car, though, we still haven’t found out much about its upcoming production version. But if you want a glimpse of what it’ll probably be like out on the open road, check out this video from Drive 615 on YouTube.
This Z Proto was spotted by Byron Glover Jr. on its way to a Cars & Coffee event in the Nashville, Tennessee area. It was flanked by a Nissan Titan support vehicle (with an in-bed photographer) and the redesigned Nissan Frontier, all presumably making their way to the event from Nissan’s American headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee.
You can see that this Z Proto has a fully functioning powertrain and interior, usually good signs that things are close to production. Plus, you can see that the retro, 240Z-inspired design works well in the real world. Simple, clean lines define its profile while thoughtful details like the 300ZX-style taillights add character. The bright color certainly helps nab attention, so we hope it makes it to production. For now, though, this is as close as we’ll get to seeing real 400Zs (or simply Nissan Zs, depending on which rumors you believe) on the road.
