The new Civic sedan already looked good. It’s got a sharper design, a nicer interior, and loads more tech. The only problem was no manual transmission. But Honda manual die-hards can relax. Your hero has arrived. It’s the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback.
Not only does the Hatchback bring back the iconic body style, but it’s also marks the return of the manual transmission to the civic lineup. Honda, long known for making some of the best manual transmissions in history, isn’t out of that game yet.
The manual will be available with both the 180-hp 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and the 158-hp 2.0-liter naturally aspirated motor. You’ll be able to spec the manual on Sport or Sport Touring models. LX and EX-L buyers will be stuck with the continuously variable transmission.
