The 2022 Taycan GTS Is the Sweet Spot in Porsche’s EV Lineup

The Porsche Taycan is one of the most fun electric vehicles you can buy. Whether you go for the top-tier Turbo S trim or the cheaper 4S variant, you’re in for a good time. We suspect the Taycan’s newest trim, the GTS model, might actually be the most fun of the trio, especially because you can option it as a new “Sport Turismo” wagon.

Revealed by Porsche at the Los Angeles Auto Show alongside the Cayman GT4 RS, the Taycan GTS aims to split the difference between the 4S and the Turbo in price and performance while offering enthusiasts an extra level of enjoyment to boot. It comes standard with the bigger 93.4 kWh battery and dual-motor drivetrain layout, with a two-speed transmission in the rear. The setup allows for a maximum output of 590 hp with launch control enabled, sitting cleanly in between the 462-hp 4S and the 670-hp Turbo. Porsche quotes a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds.

In addition to being available as a sedan, the Taycan GTS can be optioned as a “Sport Turismo” wagon. Unlike the Taycan’s existing “Cross Turismo” wagon, which features a raised ride height and off-road-minded body cladding, the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo features a more street-oriented setup that shares its fender design and ride height with the sedan. Seeing as how it’s much more of a traditional wagon than the Cross Turismo, we’re alreadt fans.
