Bentley doesn’t make sports cars. Sure, its lineup is made up of 500+ horsepower all-wheel-drive sleds that’ll put down shockingly quick acceleration times, but track and sporty driving isn’t the point. They’re about crossing long distances at high speeds in total comfort and serenity. In the case of the 2022 Bentley Continental GT Speed, “high speeds” means “up to 208 mph.”
That’s the top speed of Bentley’s new, 650-hp grand tourer. Positioned atop the “regular” Continental GT W-12, the Speed squeezes 24 more horsepower out of the same twin-turbo 6.0-liter 12-banger. It makes that new power by keeping the turbos at full boost higher in the rev range, meaning you’ll find the extra oomph on the good end of the tachometer. Still, the GT’s eight-speed dual-clutch automatic shifts twice as fast as in a standard W-12 car, improving the 0-60 time by a tenth of a second to 3.5 seconds.
