Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Spied Lapping the Nordschleife

With all of the excitement surrounding the new Porsche 911 GT3, you’d be forgiven for forgetting about the upcoming Cayman GT4 RS model. The track-focused mid-engined sports car is not far out, and now, we have a chance to watch it fly its way around the Nürburgring Nordschleife nearly undisguised.

Like all of the RS models that have come before it, this new Cayman is slated to be the most hardcore variant of Porsche’s junior sports car. This of course means plenty of enhancements over the standard GT4, starting with the engine. A familiar 4.0-liter flat-six is expected to provide the GT4 RS with around 500 horsepower, which is a significant bump over the GT4’s 414 hp rating. A reworked aerodynamics package will also help make use of that extra grunt, made evident by the giant swan neck rear spoiler out back. The standard GT4 gets the entire front axle and parts of the rear suspension from the 911 GT3, but expect some lightening and further stiffening on the chassis front. It remains unclear whether the Cayman GT4 RS will be offered with either a PDK dual-clutch automatic, a manual transmission, or both.
