If you know the Daimler-Steyr-Puch Gëlandewagen’s history, you know the modern Mercedes-Benz G-Class doesn’t need to worry about its pedigree. But there’s also no harm in enhancing its off-road capabilities in visual terms, which is the idea behind the new Professional Line Exterior for the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
Mercedes showed this one off in Munich at the recent auto show there, just to show buyers what’s possible from this line of accessories. Standard features for the Professional Line include the very tough-looking stone guards covering the headlights, the mud flaps, and 18-inch wheels wearing tires with plenty of sidewall. It sports optional Copper Orange Mango paint for ultimate pop, and some exterior trim pieces are painted G Manufaktur Night Black Mango for contrast. Some optional Professional bits are also included, like the spare tire holder and roof rack that is tent-capable, both done up in matte black.
The 2022 G-Class will (at least in Europe) offer a bigger options list, including interior accent lighting with 64 colors (up from just eight previously), wiring for rear seat entertainment and a towing hitch, and a revised lineup of trims and packages. We imagine most if not all of the additional content will make it stateside, but we’ll have to wait for U.S.-specific information which we expect soon.
