Listen to the All-Electric Mercedes-Benz EQS Make Its Tires Squeal on the Nürburgring

Mercedes launched its latest flagship EV, the EQS, back in April 2021. Since its reveal, the quirky design and odd dimensions have had us thinking non-stop: What does this thing actually look like going down the road? Now, thanks to this spy video captured at the Nürburgring, we have a good idea.

The CarSpyMedia YouTube channel was on the scene at the Green Hell during one of the track’s recent industry test pool sessions to film two undisguised EQS test cars doing some laps. Because of its 516-hp electric drivetrain, they’re mostly silent, though there are a few corners you can hear the tires gasping for life as the drivers lean on them.

What we’re more interested in is how the car actually looks in a real-life setting, free of expensive promotional camera gear and high-end editing software. The car’s egg-like shape is even more pronounced, its lack of any real striking features making it seem a bit awkward. For a brand that’s made a name for itself building some of the most elegant, luxurious cars on the planet, we’re not sure this is the way forward.
