In case you somehow missed it, the New England Forest Rally happened this past weekend. Full of drama and fierce competition, there was plenty to write home about regarding the event’s 30th running. But even through the wrecks and numerous mechanical failures, NEFR’s iconic Concord Pond stage and its 100-mph-plus jumps remained the star of the show.
To give you an idea of just how action-packed the Concord Pond stage is, we recommend watching this onboard video of a brand-new Ford Fiesta WRC piloted by Barry McKenna and Leon Jordan tackling the course. Uploaded by the DirtFish rally school on YouTube, it’s a good visualizer that shows truly how much speed these cars are capable of.
McKenna and Jordan have no trouble taking the stage’s massive jumps at full throttle in sixth gear, leaving the ground while traveling at over 100 mph. Long-travel suspension means soft landings, while a trick AWD system allows the duo to keep speeds up through tighter bends. For the full story, check out this article from Road & Track.
