Hearing a Ferrari V-12 at full-tilt on a race track is never a bad time. The FXX K Evo, the ultimate variant of the company’s LaFerrari, was made for lapping, and it does so in spectacular fashion at one of America’s most iconic tracks, Watkins Glen International. We recommend plugging in headphones and turning the volume way up.
Built for track use only, the FXX K EVO makes 1035 horsepower from its V-12 hybrid powertrain, and sounds magnificent. Like every car from the XX program, the one shown here is shipped around the world to some of the most legendary tracks to be driven by its owner, Ferrari Challenge driver and noted collector Alexander West.
After a half-speed warmup lap, West immediately gets up to speed and starts pushing the car to its limit, letting us hear all 9000-plus rpm of that naturally aspirated V-12 sing. He hits 174 mph on the back straight, and doesn’t hesitate to get the car sliding through quicker bends. It doesn’t take long before he catches up to another FXX K Evo on the front straight, and slows down to give the car some space. For the full story and video, check out this article from Road & Track.
