The 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQS combines luxury and performance in an all-electric package. The performance-oriented electric vehicle features two AMG-specific electric motors, both of which are fed power by way of a 108-kWh battery pack. While the Mercedes-AMG EQS generally produces a total of 649 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque, the EV offers a Race Start mode with boost function as part of the AMG Dynamic Plus package that briefly increases maximum output to 751 hp and 752 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes-AMG claims this latest iteration of the EQS races from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 3.4 seconds and hits a top speed of 155 mph.
Partaking in such performance feats, however, will surely drain the vehicle’s battery. Fortunately, the German automaker states the pack is capable of adding 186 miles of range in just 15 minutes of charging (surely when hooked up to a fast charger). Further helping keep the battery full is the car’s regenerative braking system, which offers three levels of adjustment activated by way of steering wheel switches.
Additionally, the Mercedes-AMG EQS is available with what the three-pointed star dubs the “AMG Sound Experience.” It generates various faux-powertrain sounds by using information gleaned from the user’s driving style, specific drive mode, and more.
